Good Communication = Good Rapport
How important it is to make a good rappot with people? You know the answer. If you make a good impression, people will remember you. Being charismatic is a quality not all people can boust of. There are individuals who are naturally charismatic. Others just need to pay some attention on few things to improve their chances on building a good rapport.
Everyone loves attention and to feel special. It's not that hard to show you care about the person when you have conversation with them. And you know what? When somebody feels important, they will more care about what you have to say.
Have you heard expression "Do to others what you want them to do for you?". Did you really pay attention to these words. Ofcourse there are situation you have a lot in your mind and you are just too tired or have no time etc to listen to problems of others. But showing at least some interest and asking open questions as well as giving active answers (not just sounds like "yes", "hmm", "ugh", "wow" etc) will help to leave a good impression about yourself. Isn't it what you want people to do when you are speaking?
Being curious about person will not just show your interest, but you may obtain some information that you were looking for.
If you just let person talk about what they like, you will be definitely appreciated. Everyone likes to talk about themselves or their interests. Try not to interrupt person when they talk. Everyone hates that, just some are polite enough not show their feelings.
What if a person is an introvert or shy? You can make them talking more by asking open ended questions, that can't be answered with just "yes" or "no". You may tell something about you, your interests first just to make person more relaxed and trust you more.
And last, but not least don't forget about influence of positive body language. Smile, make eye contact, laugh at their jokes, try not to cross your arms and legs.
Have a nice communication

This is such a fundamental truth. I have known people who talk endlessly about themselves, and never let others get a word in edgewise. After a while, no one wants to listen.

I LOVE it! I agree completely. Rapport and well we are in or out of rapport is essential in communication. As a dating and relationship coach, part of what I coach clients on is making very specific conscious effort to create and build rapport in a body language flirting manner RIGHT AWAY in Date0.
